Oh How I LOVE The Beach

I am a HUGE fan of the beach.
It is my absolute FAVORITE place to be. Favorite!!

I love love love SUMMER. And look forward to it all through Fall, Winter and Spring.

Lately I've been feeling like yuck.... can't really explain it... just yuck.
And I've decided that it's because I'm going through BEACH withdrawals. It's been WAY too long since my toes have been in the sand. My nose is aching for that salty sea air. I want to feel the sun literally burning my skin.

I NEED THE BEACH!!! I NEED SUMMER!!

Beach

I just went through my planner and dedicated EVERY free Saturday & Sunday from June through August to the beach.

There are 13 weekends from June through August.
26 days.

But with previous obligations... and "Drew Weekends" (He swears he hates the beach... ) and avoiding Holiday weekends (I don't do crowds).... I only came up with 17 days.

17 trips to the beach over a 90 period. That is hardly enough.

I can already tell I'll be using A LOT of my sick days and personal time at work to hit the beach.

I know Spring just started.... but Summer, please hurry up and get here!!!

The Thing I Do Best...

*During a ride in the car this weekend, Drew randomly asked me "Mom, what do you think I'm the best at?"... I thought for a moment, thinking he was hoping I would say video games, but I responded with "well, you're great at baseball, and you play video games pretty well"... at which point he completely melted my heart and said, "ya I'm good at those, but the thing I do best is LOVING YOU..." Seriously, I almost cried!! My little sweet heart... I sure do love that kid.

*We had a pretty calm weekend... even though it was about 800 degrees all day every day...

but Friday the electricity went out on our street (lucky us!!) probably because everyone and their mother was running their air conditioning and every fan in their homes trying to survive this freakin heat. So we headed to the mall to enjoy some free AC and have dinner. And surprisingly all I spent was $6... for the entire 2 hours we were there... and that $6 was spent on dinner!

*Saturday morning we ran a few errands then headed home and went straight to the pool. We spent a few hours out there with Drew's aunt, uncle and cousin, then went home to take a nap before going to the Angel game that night. One of my girlfriends gave us her season tickets for that night and they were giving out a jersey to all the kids that night so it seemed like a win-win situation for us..... until we got there and I realized we'd be sitting in the sun for about 80% of the game. The game started at 6:00pm and it was 92 degrees.... we only lasted 2 innings before we left. I was seriously melting.. dripping sweat...  yuck!!

*Sunday we headed to the beach bright and early. I always want to get to beach as early as possible to get a good spot and avoid traffic. It was already 81 degrees outside when we left our house at 9:00am so we were prepared for a long hot day. But when we got the beach it was about 70 degrees and the sky was covered with clouds... we played for a couple hours, walked around the shops a bit and had lunch, then decided that it was too cold, so we headed home and back to the heat... and the pool.

It was a hot, but pretty enjoyable weekend...

It's Just About Ready...

It's been a PROJECT to say the least....
One month...
But totally worth it...

Just added the new furniture and new bed set....
And I love the way it came out.

Still need to get some curtains.. and an area rug..
then attempt to hang some pictures of the love of my life
up on these blank walls...

I am SOOO glad to finally be sleeping in my own room and bed again... that couch was not meant for Drew and I... heck we have a hard enough time both fitting on this Cal-King bed with the way he flips around in the middle of the night...

In other news...

I took a much needed trip to the beach ALONE a couple weeks ago...
I baked like a lobster.. OUCH..
but it was a beautiful day and I enjoyed every second.

We had a very busy end of the week last week, and it carried into the weekend.
Grandma was sent to the hospital Wednesday afternoon with con-genitive heart failure (but she's doing good now), so I was at the hospital Wednesday and Thursday..
My mom was in town to see Grandma and to work on a family yard sale that weekend.
Friday & Saturday were spent working at the yard sale, dealing with a migraine, and squeezing in a little league game.

So Sunday we just completely relaxed out by Grandma's pool...
it was nice and hot..
but that water was freezing cold!!

Lovely Weekend...

Such a good weekend with the love of my life...

They say "Every day should be Valentine's day if you really love someone"...
and I agree.. and am lucky enough to spend (practically) every day with the love of my life...

Saturday we got up bright and early to do something this little munchkin has been begging to do for over a year (ok, anyone that says I give this kid everything he wants is crazy..., it took a year of begging for me to break down and do this one)....

We went fishing....

We went to a local park that has a lake that's stocked with fish every week so I figured our chances would be pretty good...

Now fishing or anything outdoorsy besides the beach just isn't my thing AT ALL...
But Drew being the professional fisherman that he is (he's fished once with his dad about 6 months ago)...
decided he would take charge and handle it all.

This kid is NOT the most patient child in the world... waiting just isn't fun when you're 6 (or 27 if you ask me)..  so he would throw his line out there, wait about 10 seconds, and reel it back in and do it again... over and over and over again.. for 3 hours straight.

Needless to say, we didn't catch anything... but we had a good time...
Unfortunately for me Drew want's go back there again... probably more than once..

Sunday was Valentine's Day and I got to spend the morning with my 2 loves....

Drew and the Beach

It was such a beautiful day in Balboa...
I absolutely LOVE the beach.. and after all the yucky rain and wind we've been having, it was the perfect place to be!

Now the weather was beautiful.. sunny and warm...
the water, however; wasn't so nice.. it was freezing.
But not to Drew.. that kid kept running in and out of there..
chasing waves and pretending he was a water bender (way too much of that Avatar cartoon in our house)...

We went to the marina for lunch... and took a trip through the museum....

Our Valentine's dinner plans did not go as planned at all... but I promised Drew I'd make it up to him real soon (FYI: John's Incredible Pizza is the busiest place on Earth on Valentine's day).

Hope you all had a LOVELY weekend....
XOXO
